Boys today have scads of activities available to them. There are folks out there to teach them baseball and chess and acting. These programs are wonderful. And many of our boys are busy with similar activities.
Instead of teaching boys individual skills, Scouting concentrates on turning boys into good men. Scouting lays out paths and boys and their parents find their ways through. For some boys it is camping and hiking. For some it is leadership. For some it is making friends. Scouting offer challenges that allow boys to stretch themselves and exercise their limits within a safe and age appropriate environment.
The Cub Scout program caters to boys from the 1st to 5th grade. The program has been around and growing since 1910.
Since we are sponsored by the Cobb Jewish Community Center, we work hard to meld the morals and tradition that Judaism gives us with the blueprints built by the Scouts. We have learned that this is a wonderful combination. The emphasis on doing good and being the best you can be is the base of both organizations.
Your son will begin his time as part of an age appropriate Den. Dens generally meet once a month to work on age appropriate achievements (scouting is all about achievements) on a Sunday afternoon. The Pack consists of all of our dens and meets once a month on a Sunday afternoon. Pack events include major events like camping trips, caving and our Pinewood Derby (car race).
Join us and see what we are all about.
